LIFE SAVING SOCIETY

Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross and NLS Programs

BRONZE MEDALLION
Life Saving Society Bronze Medallion courses will be offered Monday nights, starting October 2009 and on three Saturdays (see schedule below).  Prerequisites: accomplished swimmer i.e. Aquaquest Level 12 or Star 6 or Bronze Star and 13 years of age.   Cost is $355 which includes the  manual and exam fees.

Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR courses will also be  offered to Bronze Medallion candidates only. The cost will be  an additional $125.00 which includes the manual and exam fees.
BRONZE CROSS
Life Saving Society Bronze Cross courses will be offered during January and February 2010 (see schedule below).  Prerequisites: Bronze Medallion and 14 years of age.  Cost is $320 which includes the exam fees.
NLS
The National Lifeguard Service course is the minimum requirement to be employed as a lifeguard (see schedule below). Prerequisites: Bronze Cross and 16 years of age.
 Cost is $375 which includes the  manual and exam fees.

1. Red Cross Assistant Water Safety Swim Instructor Course  

Prerequisites:  Minimum age 15 yrs with Bronze Cross

Course needs to cover 30 hours of pool and theory

As per Red Cross requirements all candidates must practice teach at a Red Cross Learn to Swim Program        (e.g. jan caldwell aquatics) for a total of 12 hours and hand in all assignments, as they are completed, before certification is awarded.  Price $350. Includes manual, exam and gst.

 

 

2. Red Cross Water Safety Swim Instructor Course

(does not include the Lifesaving Society Instructor certificate)

Prerequisites: minimum age 16 and Assistant Water Safety Instructor (or Aqua Leaders)

PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND RECERTIFICATION HAS BEEN CHANGED TO SUNDAY APRIL 5, 2010

All candidates must be 16 years of age, have Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid with CPR C

Recertification cost $100.  CPR must be current to recertify, contact jan for more info.

Price   $375 per candidate includes books, exam fees and some first aid equip.

6.  Lifesaving Society Bronze Medallion 2009  Sundays,  Oct. 18  & 25,  Nov. 1 & 8   9:00 to 1:30

All candidates must be 13 years of age or have completed Bronze Star.

  

7.  Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross 2010 is offered on Monday nights 6:30 to 9:30    January 4, 11, 18, 25,  February 1,    March 1, 8 and 15, 2010.  All candidates must be 14 years of age and have completed  Bronze Medallion.
